Convert HEIC to PNG
Drop your HEIC photos and download PNG versions. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and the photos never leave your device.
Drop your HEIC files here
Converted to PNG on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so there is no quality setting.
Why convert HEIC to PNG
PNG opens in practically all software, and it stores every pixel without loss, so saving the file again does not degrade it. It is a good choice when you will edit the picture several times. If you only need a file to upload or share, JPG is usually enough and much smaller.
What changes
A PNG made from a photo is usually many times larger than the HEIC or a JPG. Converting does not add detail that the HEIC did not hold; it only keeps what is there without further loss. This page shows the exact size of every result.
Why this works in every browser
Safari can open HEIC on its own. Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot, so this page includes its own decoder, loaded only when you add a HEIC photo. The first conversion takes a moment, and the photo is never sent to a server. The decoder is libheif, free software under the GNU LGPL 3.0; the notices are at /third-party-notices.txt.
Questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, using your device's own image engine. The file is never sent to our servers or to anyone else.
Is it free, and is there a limit?
It is free, with no account and no limit on how many images you convert. Each image can be up to 40 MB, and up to 30 can go in at once.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than my HEIC?
PNG does not compress with loss, so it needs far more space to store the same photo. For a smaller file, use the HEIC to JPG converter.
Why is the first photo slow?
In Chrome, Edge and Firefox the page loads a decoder the first time you add a HEIC photo. After that it is ready and the next photos go faster.
