Cookies and storage
Last updated
This is everything SizeSpec can store in your browser, including the one thing that is optional. We use no advertising, and the only tracking is the Google Analytics below, which stays off until you say yes.
01What we store
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Cookie, first party, HttpOnly | Keeps you signed in. Set only after you sign in or create an account. | Up to 7 days, or until you sign out |
| sizespec-anon | Cookie, first party, HttpOnly | A random id with no other data attached. Limits the free pack in the studio to once a month for a visitor who has not signed up. Set only when you export a pack without an account. | Up to about 400 days |
| theme | Local storage, first party | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Set only when you click the theme button. | Until you clear your browser data |
| sizespec-notice | Local storage, first party | Remembers that you closed the notice about cookies and storage, so it does not appear again. Set only when you click “Got it”, “Accept analytics” or “Decline”. It holds the value 1, nothing else. | Until you clear your browser data |
| sizespec-analytics-consent | Local storage, first party | Remembers whether you allowed or declined Google Analytics, so we only ask once. Holds “granted” or “denied”, nothing else. | Until you clear your browser data, or change your choice below |
| _ga, _ga_* (only if allowed) | Cookie, set by Google Analytics | Lets Google Analytics tell visits apart, so we can see page views and traffic trends. Set only after you click “Accept analytics” or “Allow analytics” below. Google is the processor; see Google's Privacy Policy. | Up to 13 months (Google Analytics default) |
On HTTPS the sign-in cookie name carries a __Secure- prefix. The session, theme and notice items are never shared with anyone and never identify you across other websites.
02Analytics: your choice
Google Analytics is off by default. If you allow it, Google processes your page views and general location (country/city level, from your IP address) and device type to show us traffic trends; we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share this data with anyone besides Google as our processor. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we do not even offer this choice and analytics stays off.
Current choice: Not decided yet
03Why the rest needs no consent
The session cookie, the studio usage cookie, the theme entry and the notice entry are needed for something you asked for: staying signed in, keeping the free pack to once a month without forcing you to create an account, remembering a choice you made, and not showing you the same notice again. Rules such as the EU ePrivacy Directive and Germany's TDDDG exempt storage like this from consent. We load no third-party fonts, maps, videos or widgets, so a first-time visitor who declines (or is never offered) analytics gets no cookies and no stored data at all until they sign in, export a pack in the studio, pick a theme or close the notice.
We count page views on our own server, without a cookie or anything stored in your browser; the Privacy Policy explains what is counted. This is separate from, and in addition to, the optional Google Analytics above.
04Other websites you may visit from here
- Stripe hosts our checkout and billing portal. When you open those pages you are on Stripe's website, and Stripe sets its own cookies under its own policy.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google, handles that sign-in on its own pages.
- Marketplace links in our guides take you to the marketplace's own site.
05Your controls
You can delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. Deleting the sign-in cookie signs you out; deleting the studio usage cookie resets your free-pack count for the month; deleting the theme entry returns the site to its default theme, and deleting the notice entry shows the notice again. You can change your analytics choice at any time above, or delete the _ga cookies in your browser settings.
