Both exports enlarge the 1000 × 746 original. That changes the dimensions, not the amount of detail. Resizing keeps the original desk background. File sizes vary with the photo and browser.

What Etsy says

  • TipAt least 2000 px wide and 2000 px tall.
  • TipFirst photo landscape or square; landscape keeps the focal point in every cropped thumbnail.
  • TipFiles over 1 MB may not finish uploading on a slow connection.
  • RuleJPG, PNG, GIF, SVG or HEIC. No animated GIFs, no transparency.

Etsy cuts square, portrait and landscape thumbnails from the first photo. Keep the product inside the middle half of the width so the narrower crops do not cut into it.
