Google Play screenshot size: phone and tablet requirements
Updated · 2 min read
Short answer
Use JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha. For phones, each side must be between 320 and 3840 pixels and the longer side no more than twice the shorter. For tablets, each side must be between 1080 and 7680 pixels in a 16:9 or 9:16 ratio. You can add up to 8 screenshots per device type.

One size for phone and tablet portrait
Google sets limits, not one fixed size. 1080 x 1920 pixels (9:16) sits inside the phone limits and also meets the tablet portrait rule, so it is a practical choice when you want one portrait set. That is our choice, not something Google prescribes.
Resize a whole set
SizeSpec has a Google Play screenshot preset that outputs 1080 x 1920 JPEG files, which have no alpha, in one ZIP. It works in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. See the Google Play screenshot guide. If a PNG carries transparency, the free PNG to JPG converter removes it.

Publishing an app? Do the whole set at once
SizeSpec crops and resizes a batch of app screenshots to the size Google Play asks for and gives you one ZIP. It crops from the centre or pads the image on white, and it works in your browser, so your files are never uploaded. It does not offer free-hand cropping of a single picture.
