Compress an image to under 1 MB
Drop your photos and get JPG files under 1 MB. The page picks the highest quality that fits, and the files never leave your device.
Drop your image files here
Saved as JPG under 1.0 MB on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Quality is chosen for you: the highest that keeps each file under 1.0 MB. If that is not enough, the picture is also made a little smaller.
How it gets a photo under 1 MB
Many upload forms and some marketplaces recommend staying under 1 MB. The page saves your picture as a JPG and searches for the highest quality that stays under 1 MB. If lowering the quality is not enough, it makes the picture a little smaller in pixels and tries again, and it shows you the final size for every file.
What to expect
The smaller the limit, the more detail a photo gives up, and a very large or very detailed picture may need a visible reduction. If a file cannot reach 1 MB, the page says so and shows the smallest result it could make. PNG and WebP files are converted to JPG, which has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. Keep your originals.
Questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The compression runs in your browser, using your device's own image engine. The file is never sent to our servers or to anyone else.
Will every photo end up under 1 MB?
Almost always, but not guaranteed. Each file shows its final size, and if one could not get under 1 MB the page says so instead of hiding it.
Will the picture get smaller in pixels too?
Only when lowering the quality alone is not enough. The page shows the final width and height for every file.
Is a KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
This page counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, the stricter way. A file under the limit here is also under it when a form counts 1,024 bytes to the KB.
Is it free, and is there a limit?
It is free, with no account and no limit on how many images you compress. Each image can be up to 40 MB, and up to 30 can go in at once.
